Chris Heffer, Founder of ItIsWhatIt.Is

Chris Heffer 2013

I have worked with Chris over the past 18 months in order to build my understanding for the use of social media in amplifying the voice of my business. The opportunity to pick Chris’ brains on this subject came about when speaking of my vision to set-up my own business within the field of injury prevention and posture correction. Back then I saw myself as a consultant working in the North-West area of London, connecting with the local population. Due to Chris’ inspiration and a fantastic opportunity, I am no longer location dependent and am currently residing in Singapore. I now have a network of contacts spread across multiple countries and continents.

Working with Chris has taught me an incredible amount, given my lack of previous knowledge. I now find myself engaging in conversations surrounding this topic as well as informing others on how to use things such as TED, Hoot Suite, Klout and WordPress to name a few, when previously I had never even heard of them. On top of this, Chris has also pointed me in the direction of some other inspirational people i.e. Simon Sinek, who’s philosophies on business and providing information has really opened my eyes to new ideas and ways of communicating with a wider audience.

I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn from Chris, his passion and drive is inspiring and it is hard not to become immersed in what he has to say. He is a gentleman in the business world and our beliefs on providing information in a open, honest and transparent manner completely align.

I thank Chris for his help and support so far and I very much look forward to working with him further.

Andrew Alexander Parsons PhD ACC, Founder of Reciprocal Minds Ltd

I am currently working alongside Andy in our new venture ABS Life Mechanics.

I met Andy in November 2012 when his wallet was found in the gym car park by another member (some would call it fate!).  In a later conversation I mentioned to Andy my passion for injury prevention and utilising conscious awareness to become subconsciously competent in movement. Andy’s interest was sparked. He is an Exec Coach with interests in harnessing the subconscious and has a passion for mindfulness, which he brings in his work with individuals and teams.  The conversation quickly moved to how to best integrate our interests and experiences.  Cutting a long story short, in 2013 ABS Life Mechanics was born.

Andy is a pharmacologist, neuroscientist, master NLP practitioner and executive coach. He was a former Vice President Research & Development in GlaxoSmithKline. His industrial career spans leading Research for new therapies for Migraine and Stroke and creating co-creative frameworks for collaboration and investment.

He now uses his experience to support individual and cultural change. He has an Associate Coaching Credential from the International Coaching Federation. He is also an experienced trainer of Leadership and Coaching Programmes to Executives, Directors and Project Leaders. He is a renowned scientist with over 90 peer-reviewed publications and a regular commentator on the Pharma Industry.

I am very excited to have the opportunity to work alongside Andy in this new venture and hope to gain greater knowledge from his vast experience.

Shelley Morgan BSc MSST, Founder of Equilibrium Sports Therapy

Shelley Morgan

I am currently working alongside Shelley in our new venture ABS Life Mechanics.

Shelley is a fully qualified and accredited member of the Society of Sports Therapist and has been practicing in a variety of capacities since graduating from the University of Hertfordshire in 2005.

Shelley was my colleague for 2 years whilst working for a blue chip company in Hertfordshire, England from 2006 – 2008. At that time Shelley was also working as a sports therapist for Arsenal Ladies FC and their centre of excellence before going on to work with their women’s First Team where she saw them win the quadruple.  She gained valuable experience in the assessment and treatment of sports injuries, rehabilitation and injury prevention; first aid and travelling with a team.

Having worked alongside Shelley for a while, it was not until early 2008 that I was able to gain first-hand experience. I suffered an ACL rupture in late 2007 whilst playing football and had an ACL reconstruction in January 2008. After spending the initial 6 weeks with the private physio, I didn’t feel like I was progressing sufficiently and my sessions had come to an end so I decided to see Shelley on a regular basis as she had informed me of her experience with these injuries due to her involvement in football and rugby clubs.

The initial results I gained under Shelley’s supervision astounded me, her simple approach of reducing the swelling and creating greater range of movement through specific exercises worked very well and I was fortunate to be able to speak to her most days to give updates of my progression and receive bespoke advice. As I was personal trainer at the time, I knew a fair amount about the training I had post initial re-habilitation, though, the education I gained from Shelley has stuck with me until this day and helped me overcome the injury, but also enhanced my abilities as a trainer and inspired me to learn more about injury prevention techniques.

I know for sure I wouldn’t have got back to the level I did if it wasn’t for Shelley’s advice and treatment. I was able to return to semi-professional football stronger and more robust to the demands than I ever was before.

After my recovery I always wanted to work alongside Shelley, so the opportunity to with her in our new ABS Life Mechanics venture is very exciting.

I thank Shelley for all her hard work, effort and patience helping me to return from a major injury even though I may have complained once or twice about the discomfort!

Shelley is now running a private clinic in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire where she prides herself on adopting a joint by joint, hands on approach. Shelley understands that patients adapt their movement patterns to guard against pain from injury which can cause further issues and pain becoming a vicious cycle. Shelley uses an in depth assessment to locate the cause of the complaint and a combination of specialised hands on muscle release techniques to break the pain cycle. Each client is then given a bespoke exercise programme designed to stimulate the correct muscle firing patterns and restore accurate pain free movement and build strength.
